Foolishness?

How is your fool-o-meter doing? I'll say something, and you tell me if it's foolish. First, a practice round:

1) The sky is pink.

Foolish? Isn't the sky blue? I suppose it depends on the time of day, and whether there is a sunset painting the sky pink. Sometimes our initial reaction can stop us from seeing the bigger picture.

2) Jesus, the son of God, came to earth as a man and was murdered on a cross to save me.

Foolish? To those looking for God to prove his existence with mighty miracles, the death of Jesus is kind of like an anti-miracle. Why not come and put everything right? Why not save us from all the suffering and pain in our world?

To those looking to find God through philosophical logic, the Christ story is absurd. Why would the Creator of humanity choose to be subjected to human judgement? Why pay such a high price to save a world that doesn't believe it needs to be saved?

Perhaps there is a bigger picture to be explored.

Ben
